Türkiye is ready to take on the role of a mediator in resolving differences between Iran and the United States and intends to continue relevant contacts. This was stated by the President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“We confirm that we are ready to play the role of mediator between Iran and the United States to reduce tensions and resolve problems, and will continue our contacts in this regard,” the Turkish leader said in an interview with the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat. “We have expressed our rejection of any military steps against Iran on all platforms,” he noted.
Regarding these diplomatic efforts, Erdogan indicated that Türkiye is coordinating its actions with partners in the region. "Our contacts continue with friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. We do not approach this issue with a bloc or alliance mentality," he explained.
On February 3, Erdogan arrived in Saudi Arabia on an official visit. He is expected to hold talks with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the kingdom, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. As part of the two-day tour, Erdogan also intends to visit Egypt.
