During negotiations with the Azerbaijanis, there can be no question of forgetting the past: no matter how difficult it may be, we will try to make the peace process irreversible: a participant from the Armenian side
I want to emphasize that during the discussions it was not about making friends or forgetting the pain and the past. It was about building bridges of dialogue and generating different ideas related to the future. Political scientist Narek Minasyan stated this at a press conference dedicated to the meeting of representatives of civil societies of Armenia and Azerbaijan, held in Tsakhkadzor. “Summarizing the discussions in Tsakhkadzor, it is important to note that both the Armenian side and the Azerbaijani participants consider the current situation as a window of opportunity. For decades, we have had a negotiation process related to the Karabakh conflict. Especially recently, experts and politicians are trying to look back and, analyzing, talk about missed opportunities. I think at least we are confident that in the context of the peace process today we have another window of opportunity that cannot be missed. As for guarantees that this initiative will be 100 percent successful, we can say no, since the process does not depend only on us; There are various internal and external factors. However, we are convinced that missing another window of opportunity would be a mistake. No matter how difficult the legacy of the past may be, let’s try to find those common points on the basis of which we can move forward and make the peace process irreversible,” he said. Let us recall that on February 13, representatives of the expert community and pro-government media of Azerbaijan arrived in Armenia by land to participate in two-day discussions with the Armenian side, during which issues related to the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process were discussed.
