New attempt: Russia puts forward a “hard” draft peace agreement - Kyiv rejects
03.06.2025
In June, Moscow presented a detailed draft peace agreement: it included recognition of all annexed territories, restrictions on Ukraine’s armament, refusal to join military alliances, and Kyiv’s obligation to recognize Russian conditions.
Ukraine rejected this “plan” - saying that such conditions would mean virtual capitulation, loss of sovereignty and abandonment of the future. Kyiv demanded, first of all, an “unconditional ceasefire” and the return of the occupied territories.
International mediators and independent experts perceived Moscow’s statement as “a form of ultimatum” and not the basis for negotiations. Many believe that the goal is to consolidate the status quo and legitimize the annexation. June 2025 emphasizes: Russia is ready to discuss - but only on its own terms, without real compromises.
