US Permanent Representative to NATO considers the end of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine close

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker believes that peace between Russia and Ukraine is closer than ever. “For us, this is probably the best opportunity. We can say that we are close... closer to peace than ever,” the EFE agency quoted him as saying on Saturday. The permanent representative noted that “this will not be peace at any cost, since ultimately the Ukrainian side will have to accept any agreement reached, and the Russian side will have to demonstrate a sincere desire to end this war.”
