We have a crisis of democracy and the rule of law: in addition to legal disgrace, all this also has a component of great moral disgrace․ Vardanyan - about the detention of deputies

We have the fact that our comrades have been under arrest for so many months. Deputy of the “Armenia” faction Aram Vardanyan stated this in a conversation with journalists, commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court on the issue of parliamentary immunity. “At the meeting on August 2, I literally read out Article 96 of the Constitution three times. I am sorry that in the National Assembly there was not a single deputy from the ruling faction who would say: I read Article 96 and why these people are being kept under arrest. We have a crisis of democracy and the rule of law, since the Constitutional Court is one of the last resorts. In addition to the legal shame, all this has a component of great moral shame. The decision of the Constitutional Court is not binding for me or for you, but first of all for civil servants,” he said. Aram Vardanyan noted that the same penitentiary service cannot support deputies. “Let it contain - but what to call it?” - he said. He emphasized that if an arrest is cancelled, then there must be new grounds for re-detaining a person, and assured that this will never happen. When asked whether he saw a political motive in the decision of the Constitutional Court, the deputy answered no. “There are several simple truths: no matter how much pressure is put on the Constitutional Court, it is impossible to say the opposite - if something is black, they will say that it is black, if it is white, they will say that it is white, and if there are several colors, then the pressure is effective,” he noted, adding that although the Constitutional Court could have made a decision earlier, it could have made it later.

Certain problems have emerged in the work of the State Control Service, and taking all this into account, we must continue to move forward: Pashinyan introduced the new head of the service to the SGC team

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the State Control Service and introduced the newly appointed head of the service, Romanos Petrosyan, to the team. The Prime Minister first of all thanked Tigran Ulikhanyan for the work done as head of the State Control Service. This was reported by the Prime Minister's Office. Nikol Pashinyan congratulated Romanos Petrosyan and wished him success, noting that the SGC is one of the important links and tools of the management system that ensures the effective operation of public administration. “The service as such has existed in the public administration system for the last three years and it still has a long way to go in its development. But it is also necessary to record that during this time the structure has gone through a fairly good path of development. Of course, certain problems have emerged in the work, and taking all this into account, we must continue to move forward,” the Prime Minister noted. Tigran Ulikhanyan thanked the head of government for the trust shown during his term of office, as well as the team for their joint work. “I wish you success under the leadership of Mr. Petrosyan in the best performance of the service as one of the most important bodies subordinate to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.”
